Stitching At Dawn
When all around seems chaotic
and nothing makes sense
there is always stitching at dawn.
When the sun is creeping around the trees
creating it's new day.
Before more trials begin
and after a break of sleep,
there is always stitching at dawn.
When the day ahead is complicated,
and the previous one unresolved.
Before anyone else stirs in the house,
There is always stitching at dawn.
I have loved these skeleton cow parsley plants in winter for a long time now. They are especially beautiful with the frost resting on them.
Today all the doors and windows have been open as some renovations are happening on the house. There has been a compressor, a generator, dust and noise. The worst is the whistling men though!
I have stitched these whilst my hands turned blue but it has taken my mind off it all!

Lovely little pieces. Our windows are open here, but it's quite a bit warmer for us I'm sure. Stay warm.
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely. And you're so right it's so nice to have stitching to escape to, even in the most hectic of days there are usually one or two quiet moments perfect for putting needle and thread to fabric.
ReplyDeleteWhat a delicious little poem and some nice little pictures of stitching and painting to go along with it. Our windows are open too - although I have to keep closing them as it does get chilly. Nothing like stitching at dawn - I agree - when the house is still and everyone is asleep.
ReplyDeleteThese are just so beautiful and I share your love of the umbel shape. Yours are very effective with the white and dark blue. I love them!
ReplyDeleteLovely pieces and poem.

ReplyDeletei love these, especially that delicate skeleton with the frosty pearls atop....
ReplyDeleteI could do with a few workmen around here whistling or not ;-)
ReplyDeleteI like your frosty cow parsley.
What a beautiful post and a lovely poem Clare. Just been perusing your blog......I LOVE your 'slow cloth'; what wonderful colours!!
ReplyDeleteI always leave my fennel seeds pods standing until spring because I love their shape so much (I don't like to eat them.). Love these....
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post. I especially like the picture on your journal page, and the shape of the cow parsley.
ReplyDeleteHi Clara,
ReplyDeleteJust saw that you left a comment on my blog sometime ago. Thanks.
I love the idea of stitching before dawn. It's so poetic, just like the little tree.
Delightful pieces and I enjoyed the poem too. I love carving at dawn especially when the days are so hot.
ReplyDeleteJust Love it and the poem warms the soul Thankyou
