Book Wrap and Spring

The book wrap is complete. I am happy that my journal 2011 has such a nest. Warm, protective and natural. The calico cover is tea dyed, the images are transferred using a range of techniques from printing to spraying, gel medium transfer to emulsion transfer. Inks used are walnut and eucalyptus. There is machine and hand stitching of the three layers and a tie made from slubby sheep's wool.
I shall definitely make more.
The weather today is a joy. There was a honey bee on the snowdrops this morning - I have never seen that before. He has made it through the winter and is willing to try any flower available - imagine that; Snowdrop Honey!
The croci have opened their hearts too.

  3. Your bookwrap is gorgeous. I love the button closing. Our croci awoke this morning. I cannot imagine not having these harbingers of spring to let me know winter is almost gone.

  4. What a lovely wrap you created. The flowers are beautiful too. We have flowers and bees right in the middle of winter this year. Very warm for us.

  8. What a gorgeous book wrap, dear Clare - so perfect for your beautiful journals! Yes, please make more of those wraps!

I saw a honey bee here the other day too - and two butterflies! So Spring is on its way for sure now!

  9. your bookwrap is inspiring! being an avid bookbinder and journalminder, i love seeing how others cherish their own.

haven't seen much growing around these parts beyond the odd strand of grass peeking through the old as yet...but i have such dreams of spring in my heart!

  10. I love the wrap - all the textures and subtle shades of brown - really lovely. And, your earlier post about your mother was very dear. I hope you have support... sometimes sewing itself is a connection with our mothers... I know it is with mine, who I think would be proud of what I'm making.
