Cornish Collage

Just recently my daughter had been doing some collage on a trip to the art gallery with a group from her Junior School. She had a day off this week (well many; two bank holidays and a teacher training day) and suggested we do some collage together. After some thought I decided to base mine on a sketch I drew on New Years Day for my new journal header page. It's houses along the quayside in a Cornish Village.
I really enjoyed the process and stayed up late last night to finish it. I'm wondering now whether to do another on brown paper, seal it in acrylic wax and stitch into it.
I like the way the magazine shreds combine to give movement, particularly to the sky - a blustery day.

  1. I love the idea of doing one on brown paper and stitching it - however this is a beauty as it is.Perfectly chosen colours.

  2. What a fabulous collage. It would be really interesting to see what happens by adding some stitch.

  3. Wow, this is really beautiful, Clare - I love it the way it is but I can also imagine that experimenting with wax and stitches could give other interesting results as well ... you really made me curious about this technique!

  9. This is a lovely lively collage Clare, you can feel the wind blowing! Looks a bit like Porthleven? I like the little pieces of text here and there.
