Yesterday I had a very palpitationful day at Malvern Festival Of Quilts. The work on display was wonderful but the cause of the heart pounding is always the fabric stalls.
I bought some lovely silk theme packs from The Silk Route (top left) and some Japanese taupes (top right).
Below you can see two lovely Japanese linen fabrics. With one of these I intend to make my daughter (who doesn't like pink much) a dance bag for her tap shoes etc. I might make myself a little something with the other as I'm not very grown up.
I needed beta blockers at the bookstalls 
and eventually plumped for one in French. Well there was another version in Japanese but that really doesn't give me any hope for following the instructions. In fact plain English instructions always give me gip. It's a book of applique motifs by Yoko Saito and is almost too nice to open. I couldn't take it to bed last night because I would have been awake all night!
Meanwhile I must do a quick 20 miutes on the chickens!
I just recently saw this book in Quiltmania...looks interesting. I was going to research the rest of her books...I hear she's quite famous.

ReplyDeleteooooooo those fabric look so wonderful. I can totally understand those palpitation attacks, I think all quilters can relate to that particular excitement.
ReplyDeleteHi Clare , it,s cottonreel, I do have a massive stash of fabric, stroke it regularly,and my friends always know where to come when they need that special colour they don,t have . I must say my stash isn,t those beautiful colour co,ordinated piles you see on some blogs. My fabric is a working thing , it,s being rummaged through all the time. Friends will very often say "let,s tidy your fabric" thats how they know what,s there . Crafty eh!
ReplyDeleteI forgot to say A book I looked at at Malvern--Village houses---I should have bought. There was a pattern from this book in a magazine . My friend Elaine and I did the little picture in black and white and it is so pretty .I should have bought the book at the show but you know how it is , so much that you want to buy . I will have to look on amazon .Because I don,t have it ,I want it--cottonreel

I have been drooling over your goodies, especially the silks and Japanese taupes. After such a hectic couple of weeks I didn't have the energy to go to the Quilt Show, but know what a dangerous place it can be!! This awful weather has made me very naughty, and I've been online shopping instead.
