I will go out and sketch in the big wide world. I won't worry that someone might look over my shoulder. I shan't procrastinate because I haven't got the right sized sketchbook. I certainly will not put it off because there is too much housework! I am very pleased to have joined the group Drawing Allowed - currently five of us meeting to sketch and inspire each other (see the lovely blog www.drawingallowed.blogspot.co.uk from the wonderful Fiona Mill).
So yesterday my daughter had a hockey match and whilst she played I popped down to a local trail near the canal and took the plunge. Not in the canal in my sketchbook! It was a bonus that I only had 25 minutes because it really made me get on with it and anyway it was -2° !!
I like the lower left mauve speckles - that was where the paint froze!
I used inkpen with water soluble ink and watercolour.
Yes I really needed a hot chocolate when I came home; that screwed resolution number one anyway!
After my hands had thawed I embarked on some comforting traditional patchwork.
...and stoked the fire .... bliss!
Very brave of you to sketch outside in such temperatures but a lovely result. Very cute piece of patchwork.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely sketch, you've really captured the cold. I don't think I'd survive in 2deg. We're at the other extreme, high 30's to low 40's.
ReplyDeleteLovely to be able to sketch with friends and well done for going out in the cold weather.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful resolution to have. Your fire looks wonderful too. Stay warm and have fun sketching.
ReplyDeleteMy hands would not work in the outside cold...my Lupus would begin to grip my control. Lovely painting. Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant start to your sketchbook resolution. You really have cured the chill.
ReplyDeleteThat should read 'captured' the chill, but hopefully the chocolate and roaring fire cured it.
ReplyDeleteI think that sounds like 'extreme sketching'! There should definitely be a badge for paint freezing whilst en plein air. Beautiful sketch, you've caught the winter light beautifully ~Fiona
ReplyDeleteThanks Fiona ... Maybe I should make myself a badge!
ReplyDeleteLovely post, how brave out there in the cold! I'd stay cosy by that fire!!
